The magazine

Cuir et Couture is an independent magazine devoted to leather and couture craftsmanship. We write for readers who want to understand what they buy, what they wear, and what separates a carefully made garment from a product that merely looks the part.

Our editorial line

Leather is a technical subject usually treated as a mood subject. We do the opposite: we start from the material, the cut and the atelier, then look at what houses actually do with them.

We write about fashion without borrowing advertising vocabulary, and about technique without requiring the reader to be in the trade.

Our method

• Verifiable facts. Prices, materials, origins and processes are checked at the source before publication. When something cannot be verified, we say so.
• Cited sources. Every article gathers its sources at the end of the page, with a direct link when the source is public.
• Dated, updated articles. The last update date appears on every page. An article that is no longer accurate is corrected, not left alone.
• Comparisons that name everyone. Our selections cite competing houses, including when they do better. A selection featuring a single brand is not a selection.

Our independence

The magazine publishes no sponsored content, runs no affiliate links and sells no placement in its rankings. Houses are cited on real merit, with no consideration in return.

We accept loans of garments for fitting, and we say so when that is the case.
